Hello, my name is not Lucy.

Hello and welcome to my blog. First off, my name is not Lucy. I just liked the sound of LowCarbLucy, so there's that :-) This is my first attempt at blogging, so if something isn't great, indulge me, people. The point of this blog isn't to "sell" anyone on low carb, Paleo, Atkins, South Beach, or any other diet, really. I've just managed to lose 65 pounds in 6 months by cutting carbs and I get asked by a lot of people I come into contact with how I did it. I've still got quite a bit to go, but I feel a million times better that I used to and that, to me, is the best part about all of this. Low carb isn't for everyone and I am in no way trying to push something off onto anyone. (And because I need to be responsible and the like, please consult your physician before starting any sort of diet, its just the right thing to do.)

I get asked all the time if it was hard cutting out the carbs, and I won't lie. Initially it was really sucky, for lack of a better term. I went from downing an entire bag (the 1lb kind, folks, no chintzy "king size" for me) of M&Ms in a sitting to hard boiled eggs as a snack. Not at all comparable, I can assure you. I missed the turkey sandwiches I would eat at 11, 1, 3 o'clock (or whenever I was hungry/bored/pissed off, you name it) because, well, they were damn tasty. I was not a happy camper for all of a week and I feel like my kids stepped very cautiously around me, because old Mom was a ticking time bomb.  I guess what I am trying to say is that for a few days, it bit. Big time. And then I stepped on the scale and noticed that after 5 days, I was down 7 pounds and sucky or not, those were some results I could get behind.

I get a lot of my recipes from other sites, so I will reference and include links to everything that isn't "mine". Seriously, the whole "giving credit where credit is due" is huge and I feel like not enough people do that.

I don't know if this blog will ever "take off" or if it'll wind up evolving into something completely different, but I am starting it with the idea that I'll put up recipes and maybe sample menus, mostly low carb stuff, though occasionally I may throw in a "carby" meal, just for laughs, or to get feedback on how to make it low carb.

Thanks for reading this and hopefully you'll come back in a few days for some breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner ideas. :-)
